The project consisted in the production of preliminary and final drawings as well as the tender documentation for the creation of priority lanes in existing streets for the small urban buses called ”sotramas”, along with requisite equipment. The project is part of a larger venture aimed at improving public transit in downtown Bamako and consists of four sub-projects:
1: Reconstruction of Boulevard du Peuple over a distance of 1,251 m.
2: Construction or reinforcement of nine streets over a distance of 3,996 m specifically destined to the Sotrama Ring, construction of two connecting streets (Street 1 in the Médine district and Street 507 in the Bagadadji district) over a distance of 658 m, improvement of the Gabriel Touré intersection and square Lumumba, rehabilitation covering of the Dibida collector over a distance of 774 m.
3: Construction of two pedestrian overpasses; one is 21 m long and crossed over Boulevard du Peuple at the Dabanani intersection; the other is 134 m long and crosses over the railroad tracks to link the Sotrama Ring with the Mohamed V pedestrian street.
4: Construction of seven off-street parking lots for a total of 1,500 cars in the downtown core.
